The Man and His Magic
For the past 28 years, The Magical Fun & Comedy of Philip Kampf has touched both the corporate and private sectors, making him Houston’s #1 choice for professional magical entertainment. From a corporate show to family reunions and festivals, Philip has made every event a first-class happening.
Born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio, his first introduction to magic came at the age of nine when his father took him to a Christmas party held by the local barbers’ union featuring a magician. Encouraged to develop his interest through library books, it only took three short years before he was performing professionally for birthday parties and is now performing over 300 birthday parties and private events annually. During his teen years Philip was active in the theater by participating in Hal McCuen’s Children’s Theater, Youth Theater, and the Mansfield Playhouse. After graduation from high school, he returned to Children’s Theater as the only Technical Director to receive the highest honor, the Glenn Hoffman Memorial Award.
Philip majored in theater (acting as well as technical) at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. That first summer after starting college he joined a summer stock production company. To help offset educational costs, during his college years Philip worked as a strolling magician in several local restaurants in Ohio. Applying the skills he learned from acting and the technical field, Philip relocated to Houston, Texas, in 1981 and founded Magic Street Productions, a production company that offers the finest in professional family and corporate entertainment.
That year he also began a 60-city tour, performing 15 shows a week for Dakota Assemblies. Upon completion of his tour, he quickly secured several chains of national corporations where he still performs regularly. As Philip’s reputation grew, the demand for a larger show was needed.
During Nabisco’s nation-wide search for their “UNLOCK THE MAGIC” promotion, Philip won both corporate and agency approval as one of four magicians for Houston and surrounding cities. Other major corporations like U.S. Sprint, March of Dimes, The Ford Motor Company, St. Louis Music Supply Company, Nabisco, Barnes & Nobel, Border Books, Kid's Directory and many more have used Philip’s talents to promote their products and services and to entertain clients. Philip has dedicated his career as a professional magician to provide the very best in Magical Entertainment, and his creditability as a professional for over 28 years proves that he has succeeded in reaching that goal. Ask anyone who has seen his shows.
In October of 2000 Philip was featured and stared as Mordrid the Wizard at the Sword and Crown Resturant for Astro World's (Six Flags) Fright Fest perfoming over 28 shows for the month for over 120,000 people.
In 2008 Philip added an assistant to his Dove act, Ariana Koops, and in 2011 he added another assistant, the lovely Lindsey Olson. Both girls assist in the Grand Illusion Shows.
Also in January of 2008, he debuted as the main headliner at Houston's Famed Magic Island, performing his Dove Act and Comedy Magic Show with Ariana, the youngest professional magical assistant ever to appear on Houston's Famed Magic Island stage and returned several times that year for a total of a 14-week run performing 3 to 4 shows a night.
Philip also performed as a Close-up Magician at Magic Island
In 2011 Philip, Lindsey and Ariana started headlining at Houston's Improv Comedy Club and will be a regular for their Saturday Afternoon programs.
Philip along with Lindsey and Ariana are now taking bookings for their Grand Illusion shows customized to fit any event that requires a larger magical production.
